Visually-Impaired Author Uses Power of the Pen To Fund Dream Project

Nov. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Rico Lamoureux is an author on a mission. Totally blind in one eye and near legally blind in the other due to Acute Retinal Necrosis, he refuses to let his disability stop him from achieving his dream of starting a virtual business to sell his literary works.

“It’s not in my nature to sit back and collect disability checks,” the writer says. “I’m a doer, and am doing everything within my power to leave my mark in this world. The doctors can’t tell me my visual future, which motivates me even more to accomplish what I can just in case my sight is attached to an unseen ticking clock.”

In addition to his autobiography, Power of the Pen, Rico writes dramatic novellas, and plans to make all his literary works available at Cafe Lamoureux, an establishment he is aiming to open
in the virtual world of Second Life.

“This campaign is about giving a hand up, not handout,” the author concludes. “Supporters will see their kindness literary change lives, as I plan on chronicling this project, in the form of a video blog, throughout its run and beyond. Not only to serve as a means for my
backers to witness what they have helped bring to fruition, but also as a positive message to anyone out there who has a dream. To show them that through hard work and perseverance they too can accomplish something great!”
