One of only ten events of its kind scheduled in the U.S. this season!

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Nov. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Greensboro, NC:  Whimsical figurines drenched in vibrant colors and limited edition pieces not commonly available in the United States highlight the exclusive trunk showing of Herend’s hand painted porcelain figurines and decorative accessories at Schiffman’s Jewelers next month.  The December 6th and 7th showcase at Schiffman’s Jewelers, 225 South Elm Street, is one of only ten events of its kind scheduled in the United States (U.S.) this season.

The trunk show features one of the largest assortments of rare and unusual Herend products seen in the U.S., including numbered limited editions, decorative objects and figurines. Also featured will be a riot of rare colors–lavender, key lime, cobalt blue and turquoise–painted in Herend’s signature fishnet pattern on animal figurines of all descriptions. Special show color-ways also include pairings such as key lime with raspberry fishnet, deep raspberry with gold fishnet, chocolate with gold fishnet and green with gold fishnet.

The large assortment of show goods also includes select pieces from the acclaimed Reserve Collection, Herend’s spectacular limited edition art sculptures like the Tesserae Tortoise ($3,685) and Kaleidoscope Tortoise ($2,625). Named for the small pieces of stone, glass or ceramic used in mosaics, the Tesserae Tortoise, #152 of a limited edition of 250, has thirty-eight different Herend patterns hand painted on its shell in a mosaic like pattern, the tortoise himself is painted in a complimentary key lime fishnet. The Kaleidoscope Tortoise, #15 of a limited edition of 100, boasts a kaleidoscope of vivid paisley on its shell, the tortoise himself is painted in black fishnet.

Two special Herend door prizes will be awarded during the trunk show. Herend’s Three Frogs on Palm figurine valued at $1,185 and a Chinese Bouquet Green sectioned dish valued at $515 will go to two lucky winners chosen at random. A Herend gift will also be given with all minimum purchases of $500.

Since 1826, Herend porcelain has produced one of the most outstanding and distinctive hard-paste porcelains in the world. Each piece of Herend porcelain is entirely hand painted, and many items are made by hand. Herend porcelain is one of only six remaining manufactories to be awarded the designation of “Historic Handicraft Manufactory” by the prestigious Historical Handicraft Association of Europe. To qualify for this designation, a manufactory must produce full-service dinnerware on traditional hard-paste porcelain using traditional manufacturing methods, hand paint each decoration and guarantee the availability of replacement patterns, even if those patterns are not currently in production.
