Follow on Google News | Psychic Bunny Launches Campaign to Fund Game About Shouting at Robots in Funny CostumesBy: Psychic Bunny Batonk! is a made-up "robot sport" where players compete to take momentary control of a wisecracking robot on the field for the purpose of driving them into goals or other robots. Psychic Bunny developed early prototypes of the game by forcing company founders to wear silly robot outfits while artists and programmers played the card game that controls the robots and shouted commands. Batonk!'s Kickstarter goal of $30,000 would finance an innovative translation of the game to the digital space. "You put a free card deck app on your smart device, and then the game itself goes on your console," explains designer/producer Diana Hughes. "You fling cards from your phone or tablet to the TV where the robots are. It feels like magic." Psychic Bunny is determined to offer rewards that let backers get involved in the production of the game. Backers can claim the right to name one of the robots, put a message on the stadium's jumbotron, and dictate a silly set of "theme day" costumes for the robots to wear. Popular concepts produced internally at Psychic Bunny include cardboard dinosaurs, Easter Island statues, and the Court of Louis XIV. The development team is targeting the indie OUYA console (which they themselves helped crowdfund last year) and PC as their first two platforms, but promises the technology that pairs smart devices with the sport on the screen is format and platform agnostic. "No matter what you have and what your friends have, it just works," Hughes added. "We're making it easy for you to play. That's why we love the game. It's a casual multiplayer experience that's easy to play and stupid good fun at a party." The game's Kickstarter page is located at: http://www.kickstarter.com/ About Psychic Bunny: Psychic Bunny is a hybrid media studio that creates feature films, television commercials, video games, training systems, promos, infographics, serious games and more.
