Mt. View Elementary is located at 1900 College St. SE., Lacey, WA  98503.  The Holiday Bazaar will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  More information is available at http://mtviewpta.ourschoolpages.com/Home. (http://mtviewpta.ourschoolpages.com/Home)

Like the popular Redwall and Warrior series, the characters in Stahlfeld's series are all animals.  Darkwoods begins with the death of the foxes' ruling oracle, Scythe, freeing the foxes to leave their home in Darkwoods determined to conquer the world.  Standing in their way is Princess Zuryzel of the Wraith Mice, with the ability to fade undetected into the shadows, and her allies among the Squirrel Tribes, Ranger Mice, and River Otters.

In Pasadagavra  the reader finds the war in full progress, and soon the great Stone Tribe city of Pasadagavra is under attack.  Zuryzel must leave behind the painful memory of a lost battle to save her own fortress, and instead seek out new allies for the struggling defenders of Pasadagavra.  As the story unfolds, Zuryzel encounters friendship, betrayal and a secret she would much rather stay hidden, while those inside Pasadagavra learn the depths of their own strength and bravery.

"There is a very detailed mythology of the Darkwoods which gives depth to the plot and characters.," writes Billy Burgess, Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer (August 14, 2012).  "I recommend all readers give the series a try."

Reviewer Flora Bateman agrees:  "What a wonderfully vivid world created by author Marta Stahlfeld." From the Bootheel Cotton Patch (October 19, 2012).  "I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone that liked the Chronicles of Narnia, or Redwall by Brian Jacques."

Stahlfeld began writing Darkwoods when she was twelve, and published it in 2011.   Released in 2012, Pasadagavra  is the second in the four book series written primarily for preteens and middle-school readers. Stahfeld is currently working on the third book in the series, Graystone, and plans to release it in 2014.
