After the continued success of their media preview ‘Pooja & Urvika’, the designer Label is all set to showcase their debut collection “The Gatsby Peacock” at “The Souk of Style”, a mega 2-day fashion lifestyle event in Patna, Bihar on November 16th & 17th. The event will be held at Imperial Garden, Hotel Chanakya, a hot-spot for all major exhibitions in Patna. The event will be inaugurated by the famous model & actress, Nauheed Cyrusi.

Urvika, a Fashion Designer from the prestigious Parsons School of Design as well as a Jewellery Designer from the Gemmological Institute of America and Pooja, a Jewellery Designer from The Jewellery Design & Technology Institute combined to form ‘Pooja & Urvika’ a fresh label with aesthetic appeal displays a version of the current global and the timeless traditional.

Pooja & Urvika’s debut collection aptly named, “The Gatsby Peacock” is inspired by the rich and vibrant colours of India’s National Bird, and also the period opulence and understated chic of, “The Great Gatsby”. The collection is a unique medley of clean cuts with happy, elegant and subtle colours, figure-flattering styles, with age-old traditional embroideries interspersed in a discreet and most tasteful manner.

Their entire range incorporates couture, ready-to-wear and bespoke fashion. The appeal is of flowing trendy fabrics and intricate, unique embroideries that blend together effortlessly. Commenting on their participation at The Souk of Style event in Patna, the designer duo elaborated,“As fashion is more than just clothing as a mirror of the society during varied times, it is important to bear in mind the general mood of fashion buyers during particular times like the recession. There are many other factors around us that affect the fashion around us. For example, celebrities of every kind – be it movie stars, politicians, sports persons, fashion models, music stars, etc., play a great part in deciding the fashion of their times by showing in public what they wear and how they behave in public. The Gatsby Peacock collection being showcased here has been designed with that sensibility.”

POOJA KAPUR

Master in English literature from the Lady Shriram College, New Delhi, Pooja Kapur perused Jewellery Designing from The Jewellery Design & Technology Institute. She has the ability to clearly envision the end product and the affects of blending colours in an effective and flattering manner. With a keen eye for flattering cuts and detail she loves diverse textiles and fabrics.

URVIKA KAPUR

Born and raised in New Delhi, Urvika Kapur has a natural affinity with colours, style and design. She has experimented with different art forms like, Pottery, Calligraphy and Sculpture. To achieve her goal of becoming a thoroughly professional Fashion Designer, she graduated from the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York. At Parsons, Urvika pursued Integrated Fashion Design, specializing in Parisian couture & tailoring along with Fashion Merchandising. Later, she got to train with the house of Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) and contemporary designer, Yoana Baraschi. She was also trained under Indian Artist, Kanchan Chandra for 3 years, thereby honing her sensibility to a level where she is considered in Delhi circles as one of the most promising debut designers in the country.
