Spotlite Radio presents Doctors Randall Shumaker and Lauren Reinerman-Jones

Nov. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Spotlite Radio presents DoctorsRandall Shumaker and Lauren Reinerman-Jones, both from the Institute for Simulation and Training at the University of Central Florida, to discuss modeling and simulation for training applications. Dr. Shumaker is the Director of IST and Dr. Reinerman-Jones is a Research Faculty member in IST and the Founder and CEO of DUJO.

The Institute for Simulation and Training is an important member of the extensive modeling and simulation community in Central Florida. This community consists of a military organizations including Navy, Army, Air Force, and Marine Corp,as well as other Federal agencies that specify and procure training systems for the US government, and more than 250 businesses that develop these systems. UCF represents the academic side of modeling and simulation for training, conducting research,and evaluating technology for future systems. Our guests will share their experience in applying modeling and simulation technology to important applicationsin the military andhealthcare, and for teachers’ and first responders’ training.

Dr. Shumaker will discuss some current applications and the broad potential for modelingand simulation in many non-traditional applications such as archeology and informal education such as museums and science centers.

Dr. Lauren Reinerman-Jones will be sharing her experience in physiological measurement and how this can be appliedto important training and diagnostic applications. Among the tools she will discuss are EEG, ECG, TCD, FNIR and eye tracking. She will explain what these are and how they are used to improve performancein high impact applications such as nuclear power operations, commercial driver distraction experiments, robot operations, and experiences in space. Dr. Reinerman-Jones has extensive experience in research involving human performance in complex tasks.
