Encouraging young people to enjoy winter sports

WALES, Wales - Nov. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Welsh specialist winter sports tour operator, Absolutely Snow, recently raised more than £4,000 in support of Snow-Camp, an innovative youth charity that uses a unique combination of skiing, snowboarding and life-skills programmes to support inner-city young people.

Duncan Gilroy, The Absolutley Group’s Managing Director, says, “The team at Absolutely Snow are lifelong enthusiasts of snow sports, including skiing and snowboarding. Over the years, we’ve seen how such activities help build confidence and self-esteem, and we’re delighted to help young people have the opportunity to find out for themselves the amazing feeling of conquering the snow slopes.”

The Anglesey, North Wales-based company donated two nights’ accommodation at the fantastic Chalet Les Hirondelles, for the live and silent auctions at Snow-Camp’s 10th Anniversary event on 23 October. Donations from other companies and individuals included a signed Lionel Messi shirt and VIP seats at a Barcelona game, and a kitesurfing package including kites signed by Richard Branson.

Chalet Les Hirondelles is set in the small hamlet of Les Lombardes, La Clusaz, France. Nestled high in the Aravis mountain range, the luxurious Chalet Hirondelle is based in the Aravis ski area, and its extensive grounds, and glorious views make it one of the top chalets in the French Alps.

Duncan Gilroy adds, “As a company, we believe in the idea of ‘paying it back’. We’re so glad that our donation raised £4,250 for Snow-Camp, and goes a little way towards enabling inner-city young people to experience the joy and wonder of skiing and snowboarding. We hope it will encourage lifelong enthusiasm for winter snow sports.”
