New Restaurant Fork & Knife Offers Modern Comfort Food in East Boca Raton

Owners Lee Tushman and Scott Niskar will serve creative comfort dishes in upscale-casual atmosphere

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Nov. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Be the first to experience “the future of old school” as Fork & Knife restaurant opens in East Boca Raton this November. Co-Owners Lee Tushman and Scott Niskar, with a combined 47 years of experience in the restaurant industry, present their modern take on recognizable comfort food in a 6,800-square-foot restaurant. Guests will enjoy classic yet creative dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch in a lively, upscale-casual environment with friendly, sincere and professional service.

“The F&K Experience is all about great food, great service and great atmosphere,” Tushman says. “We will bring real passion to our dishes and sincerity to our service. We want to everyone to feel welcome. We want to know your name.”

The diverse menu, designed to appeal to a wide range of demographics, will change seasonally and draw inspiration from American grilles, coffee shops and New York City diners; the owners’ roots in Michigan; and comfort classics. With Executive Chef Herbert Mlcak, formerly of Café Chardonnay in Palm Beach Gardens and Amici in Palm Beach, Fork & Knife will put a twist on these favorites with fresh ingredients, homemade components and creative presentation.

“These are feel-good dishes, classics you know and love,” Niskar says. “Our dishes evoke memories of childhood and put a smile on your face.”

Signature menu items include Detroit Coney Dogs, two grilled hot dogs with chili, yellow mustard and chopped onions on steamed buns, and The F&K Burger, a 10-ounce burger served with homemade burger sauce, shredded lettuce and thick sliced tomato. Diners may personalize their burgers with cheeses and toppings, as well as chicken, turkey and vegetarian patties. Turkey Meatloaf Cupcakes are topped with mashed potato frosting, while the traditional Southern favorite, Chicken & Waffles, is available in three iterations for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu also offers eight types of Handcut Fries—including Salt & Vinegar and Chili—as well as tantalizing desserts like Fried Apple Pie Wontons. Diet-conscious diners will enjoy a selection of fresh salads, including the French Green Bean Salad and The F&K Wedge.

Guests will have the chance to customize their meals thanks to a variety of side dishes and other options. Daily specials include soup of the day and fries of the day, and a Kids Menu will be available.

Bar Manager and Head Bartender Scott Heimke has created a refreshing selection of cocktails, comprising house-made elements like purees and infusions. The beverage program includes full beer and wine lists as well as Michigan favorites such as Bell’s Brewery beer and Vernon’s Ginger Ale.

Fork & Knife’s Sunday Brunch will feature bottomless Mimosas and Blood Marys, as well as exclusive brunch dishes, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The restaurant will present what it is calling “East Boca’s Best Happy Hour,” Monday through Friday from 4-8 p.m. with discounted food and drink, and In the Biz night on Mondays.

Fork & Knife has been designed by acclaimed interior designer Pam Manhas. The modern aesthetic comprises cobalt blue hues, maple woods and stainless steel accents. Guests will enjoy booth or table seating in the spacious main dining room, a large community table, alfresco tables and couches, and the expansive indoor/outdoor bar with five TVs.

A Michigan native, Tushman has more than 30 years of business management experience, including owning City Cellar and Blue Martini in greater Detroit for six years. Niskar, also from Michigan, cut his teeth at Walt Disney World before working in food and beverage at  The Palace at Auburn Hills, where the NBA’s Detroit Pistons Play, and at Nordstrom.

Private party space will also be available. Guests may opt for valet or garage parking, and take-out will be available.

Fork & Knife is located at 99 S.E. Mizner Blvd., #110, Boca Raton, south of Bank of America building, near Royal Palm Place.
