Our Healthcare system is really just a joke

OMAHA, Neb. - Nov. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- I recently read an article about how Americans are more active and living longer than ever before.  As a consequence they need more joint replacements…hips and knees…than ever before.  What disturbed me was this:  According to Dr. Blair Rhode, an orthopedist and entrepreneur whose company is developing generic joint replacements, it costs about $350 to manufacture an artificial hip in the United States.  But patients are billed anywhere from $26,000 to $35,000 for that very same hip (and that’s just the price of the hip…that number doesn’t include hospital costs or surgeon’s fees).

I’m not a fan of more regulation, but this borders on highway robbery!  Something needs to be done.  If we are serious about lowering healthcare costs in this country, everything (including regulating the price manufacturers are allowed to charge for artificial joints) must be on the table.

This is kind of rediculous if you ask me.  We should not take this anymore.
