PHILADELPHIA - Nov. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- PHILADELPHIA (November 12, 2013) – Volpe and Koenig, P.C., an intellectual property (IP) law firm with offices in Philadelphia, Pa. and Princeton, N.J., announced that Mighty Writers and the Twilight Wish Foundation will each receive grants through the firm’s 7th Annual IPromiseTM Charitable Giving Fund (“IPromise”).  Established in 2007, IPromise helps two qualifying Greater Philadelphia and Princeton, N.J. area non-profit organizations continue their good work by awarding them each a $20,000 grant.  This year, local ‘education’ and ‘veteran services’ organizations were eligible to apply.  Of over 100 organizations that applied, six were selected as finalists whose representatives presented on the particular projects / missions that would benefit from the grant.  Volpe and Koenig’s IPromise Charitable Giving Fund has presented more than $220,000 to date to local non-profit organizations, including those that support: community development; arts and culture; education; animal welfare; health and human services; and veteran causes.

Mighty Writers, located in Philadelphia, Pa., was founded in 2010 with the mission to teach Philadelphia kids (ages seven to 17) to think and write with clarity so they can achieve success at school, at work and in life.  The organization offers a daily afterschool academy, plus long- and short-term writing classes at night and on the weekends.  The IPromise grant will help Mighty Writers to support their Mighty Teen Scholars program, mentorships, intensive SAT prep courses and college essay writing classes, which are all free to Philadelphia students.  Said Mighty Writer Executive Director Tim Whitaker, “We are extremely grateful to Volpe and Koenig for their generous gift.  We focus on college in our Teen Scholars program, and this grant will go toward helping our kids get ready for their higher education.”

The Twilight Wish Foundation (TWF), located in Doylestown, PA, honors and acknowledges seniors for all they have given to others by bringing comfort and joy into their lives through individual wish granting celebrations.  The organization grants wishes to deserving elderly, age 68 and older, who earn less than 200% of poverty level annually, or who live in a nursing facility – many of these wish recipients are honored veterans.  The IPromise grant will provide the funds to fulfill wishes of several qualifying veterans, including such requests as: the opportunity to visit a sibling that a veteran discovered he had, getting much-needed dentures, and a ride in a fighter jet that the veteran used to work on in the Korean War.  Said Cass Forkin, founder and chairman of the board of TWF, “We are pleased and honored to have been selected for Volpe and Koenig’s IPromise grant for this year.  The grant will allow us to bring smiles and joy to local elderly veterans during their twilight years as we honor them by granting their poignant wishes.  We want our senior veterans to know that they are remembered and thanked for their services and sacrifices for our freedoms.”
