Discover Vanishing Tacoma in New Local Book

Local authors team up to pen new book using vintage images to share history

Nov. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Releasing on November 25, 2013, the newest addition to Arcadia Publishing’s popular Images of America series is Vanishing Tacoma by local authors Caroline Gallacci and Ron Karabaich. The book boasts more than 200 vintage images and memories of days past in Tacoma.

Tacoma, like most cities across the nation, has changed its appearance over time, creating many different urban landscapes. This phenomenon was apparent throughout the area as landowners, developers, community organizations and government agencies all contributed to the city’s growth and transformation. The changing landscape was further impacted by fires, earthquakes and other acts of nature, resulting in a rich mosaic of old and new.

The history in Vanishing Tacoma illustrates the city’s past and present landscapes and honors the historic properties that still remain. By allowing modern readers a chance to glimpse scenes of days gone by, the book hopes to shed light on the history of Tacoma and the area’s modern identity.

Available at area bookstores, independent retailers, and online retailers, or through Arcadia Publishing at (888)-313-2665 or online.
