TAMPA, Fla. - Nov. 11, 2013 - PRLog -- A new Christian story collection, Growing Faith: Short Stories with a Message for Today’s Youth, is designed to encourage young readers to live for God. The fiction collection for readers nine and up is slated for release in mid-November.

“It is my goal to provide stories that entertain AND edify,” says the book’s editor Cheryl Rogers, who compiled the collection containing three of her own short stories.

Rogers publishes New Christian Books Online Magazine and writes fiction and nonfiction for Christians of all ages.

Growing Faith: Short Stories with a Message for Today’s Youth contains short stories from writers like Edith Endremoda, author of Entangled-The Path of Choice. A Nigerian writer specializing in Christian fiction for adults, young adults and children, she contributed the story Run With Me, about a young girl and her friend with a hole in his heart. This touching story teaches readers about the evils of competition.

Also contributing to the anthology are David Russell, a Michigander, musician and medical transcriptionist who authored the book Winds of Change. His tale is Good Days, Restful Nights, the story of some middle schoolers who run afoul of the law. Kim Leatherman, a Lake Placid, FL, freelance writer, has contributed the story Pizza and a Cross, about how a young girl comes to God. She writes a humorous Christian blog called The Hapless Housewife at www.haplesshousewife.com.

Holy Ghost Stories, a story by Rogers, is about a teen youth group and a supernatural encounter they have with God while talking about the Holy Spirit and roasting marshmallows.  Readers learn what it is like to be walking in the gifting and calling of the Holy Spirit. Her end times story, Visit with God, is about a little girl Sara, who visits heaven and father God in a dream.

The stories deliver a powerful message to young people, demonstrating God is real and it is important to obey him.

The collection also features characters that may be familiar to some readers. Seth Scott, from Good Days, Restful Nights, saves Mr. Dudley’s life in Russell’s Winds of Change.  Zack, who disappears in Rogers’ Lost in the Woods: A Bible Camp Mystery and Where’s Zack: A Reading Quest, is in Zack and the Space Coast Caper. And Barry, who is healed of severe allergies in Rogers’ ebook Just Like Jonah Wail Tales, is one of the teens roasting marshmallows in Holy Ghost Stories.

Through her writing, Rogers tries to encourage others to seek God and stay connected to his word. “When God found me as I was suffering from a severe immune disorder, Environmental Illness. He healed me and I finally knew what I was supposed to write about,” she says.
