Using Video Game Technology To Save Teen Lives

Putnam Valley, NY -  Merging video game technology, custom Artificial Intelligence programming, proven emergency training and response techniques with high end graphics, Main Street Graphics is  creating a unique driver training environment targeting young drivers called “Crash Course Driving Hazard Simulator”.

In highly realistic simulated driving environments, each user interacts with AI controlled vehicles and pedestrians as well as coping with a variety of weather and road conditions.  The combination of difficult road conditions and the unpredictable traffic hazards create an environment that even a seasoned driver will find challenging.

The University of Central Florida’s Institute for Simulation and Training concluded, “Because they can recreate experiences, simulations hold great potential for training people for almost any situation.  Education researchers have, in fact, determined that people, especially adults, learn better by experience than through reading or lectures.  Simulated experiences can be just as valuable a training tool as the real thing.”

With this new program, Main Street Graphics is incorporating the same techniques used by airline pilots and first responders to train for dangerous, unpredictable situations requiring instantaneous response.

Teen and young adult drivers have the highest death and injury rate of any group due to lack of experience according to NHTSA.  Simulators can help provide this experience.  Young drivers cannot practice dangerous and unpredictable conditions in a real vehicle but they can in a simulated driving world.

Development of “Crash Course Driving Hazard Simulator” is continuing and the additional funding necessary to complete the program is being sought by Main Street Graphics from the Crowdsourcing community by initiating a fundraising campaign on the Crowdfunding website, Indiegogo.com.  Indiegogo.com is a popular website where contributors can support the success of a variety of projects as an alternative to traditional financing sources.
