Follow on Google News | 200+ High School Youth Gather to Grant $150,000 to North Carolina Communities!!!More than 200 youth from across North Carolina will come together to attend the Eighth Annual North Carolina Youth Giving Summit. The Summit will occur on November 16th at the Downtown Greensboro Marriott (304 North Greene Street) from 10am to 4pm.
The North Carolina Youth Giving Network (NCYGN) is a statewide collection of 25 different youth philanthropy sites, from as far East as Jacksonville (Onslow County) to as far West as Cherokee (Murphy County). Leading To Change, a nationally recognized training organization based in Charlotte coordinates the NCYGN. NCYGN members at the Youth Giving Summit will learn strategies to assess the needs of their communities, techniques to effectively facilitate meetings, and methods to further develop resources in their communities. Community leaders and churches selected youth from their areas that are committed to giving back to the community for participation in the Summit. The 2013 Summit draws youth and adults from throughout North Carolina, including Forsyth, Guilford, Wilkes, Mecklenburg, Jackson, Cleveland, Pitt, New Hanover, Onslow, Northampton, Wake, Murphy, Robeson, and Pamlico Counties. This Summit marks the only annual convening of all of these counties for youth philanthropic efforts. Sponsors of the event include the Starbucks Foundation, North Carolina Community Foundation, Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, the Winston-Salem Foundation, the Greater Greenville Community Foundation, Foundation For The Carolinas, and Jackson County 4H.
