The special edition 2014 Jeep Wrangler SUV was first shown earlier this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013. While it was first assumed this would be a European-only model, Jeep will soon make it widely available in North America. The special edition was made due to the overwhelming number of Wrangler drivers who use the 4WD capabilities for tackling snow and ice.

Drivers can choose either the standard two-door configuration or larger four-door Unlimited body style for their Polar Edition. Either way, models come with plenty of exterior and interior upgrades. This is most noticeable with the “Hydro Blue” paint job (Bright white and Billet Silver are also available for these models).

In terms of additional exterior enhancements, the vehicle includes a hardtop with the chosen body color, glossy black wheels, a power bulge “Powerdome” hood, and special decaling across the vehicle. Interior features for these models include heated front seats (the driver’s seat is height adjustable), cruise control, automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and other controls.

Powering the Jeep Wrangler is the 3.6L V6 engine from Pentastar capable of 285 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. It can be paired with either the six-speed manual transmission or five-speed automatic. To help drivers with their snowy off roading, Jeep has outfitted the vehicle with a front and rear axle from Dana and a electronic rear differential from Trac-Lok designed to eliminate any spinning, something certainly not wanted while off-roading in snow.
