Cape Cod Writers Center Announces Top Judges for First Annual Writing Contest

Winners have a choice of cash prize or 2 Workshops at 2014 Conference

CAPE COD, Mass. - Nov. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- (Cape Cod, MA) - Nov. 8, 2013 --  The Cape Cod Writers Center is pleased to announce the four top judges in each category of the First Annual Writing Contest:  Jamie Cat Callan (Non-Fiction), Charles Coe (Poetry), William Martin (Fiction), and Sara Pennypacker (Middle Grade/YA). The contestants who make it to the final round in each category will have their work read by top talents in the field.
   Jamie Cat Callan is the American voice for French chic. Inspired by her French grandmother, she visited France many times, interviewed hundreds of women and captured their je ne sais quoi in her books, Ooh La La!, Bonjour Happiness!,and French Women Don't Sleep Alone.  She is also the author of The Writer's Toolbox.  Charles Coe coordinates the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s literature and music grants programs and is the author of two collections -- Picnic on the Moon and All Sins Forgiven: Poems for My Parents.  William Martin is the award-winning New York Times bestselling author of ten novels, a PBS documentary, book reviews, magazine articles, and a cult-classic horror movie.   He was the 2005 recipient of the prestigious New England Book Award, given to an author "whose body of work stands as a significant contribution to the culture of the region."  Sara Pennypacker is the award winning author of Summer of the Gypsy Moths, the Clementine series,  and many more beloved books for children.
   Top prize in each category is $100 cash or the choice of two (2) courses at the 2014 Cape Cod Writers Conference.
    All entries are accepted ONLY as electronic submissions. Prose entrants can submit up to ten (10) pages in standard manuscript format in Times New Roman 12 pt. font ONLY  and as a .doc file ONLY.  (no docx, pdf, or other formats).  Poetry entries should be one page, double-spaced in Times New Roman 12 pt. font, attached as .doc (again, no other formats accepted).  Each piece can be submitted in only one category, but more than one piece may be entered (separately, and with separate fees).  Entries will not be accepted via postal mail or dropped off.
   Entry fee is $25 per prose submission, $15 per poetry submission, via PAYPAL ONLY.  Checks and other forms of payment not accepted.
   All entries must be submitted via email to contest@capecodwriterscenter.org  and be in English.  Subject Line in each entry should read Submission (Category):  (Title of Manuscript).  The cover letter email must contain the author’s name, pen name (if applicable), e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, title of manuscript, and PayPal address used for payment.  Author’s name cannot appear on the manuscript; only in the cover letter.  All material must be original and unpublished (including on personal websites and blogs), and all entrants must be 18 years or older.  Submissions not following guidelines will be immediately disqualified.
   Deadline for submissions is January 15, 2014, midnight EST.  Contest winners will be announced on April 1, 2014.
