Cash Mob Noir is an innovative, grassroots, and exciting initiative to drive economic development and support for heritage neighborhoods and small black businesses.

MIAMI - Nov. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- The Black Hospitality Initiative (BHI) of Greater Miami kicks off The Miami Heritage Experience with a Cash Mob Noir on November 16th from 2pm to 8pm at Jackson Soul Food (950 NW 3rd Ave, Miami). The event is an opportunity for the entire community to uniquely experience the vibrant history and heritage of Historical Overtown while also supporting black owned businesses. The day’s event consists of a Cash Mob for lunch, happy hour, or dinner with a $20 buffet and continues with a guided 45-minute tour of Historical Overtown with stops at The Black Archives and the Black Police Precinct.

“We are excited to showcase our Heritage Tourism program to the entire community at the Cash Mob Noir and tell the vivid stories of Overtown that have made this community a very important part of Miami’s history,” shares Graylyn Swilley-Woods, Executive Director of the Black Hospitality Initiative. “We look forward to building The Miami Heritage Experience with historical tours in other communities including Little Haiti, Coconut Grove, and Little Havana.”

Cash Mob Noir is a twist to the Cash mob concept with an emphasis on supporting small, local, black-owned businesses. In Cash Mob style, the idea is to converge on a business and spend a minimum of $20 on one particular day and enjoy live music, a buffet, and a great social ambience at Jackson Soul Food followed by a guided tour throughout Historical Overtown provided by Miami Trolley.

“The Heritage Tourism program is an opportunity to drive economic development within heritage neighborhoods,” shares Carole Ann Taylor, Chair of the Heritage Tourism Committee of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We believe that we can promote a greater Miami locally and to visitors by highlighting the vibrancy and culture of our historical neighborhoods.”

The event is a community collaboration with The Black Archives, the Black Police Precinct, Miami Trolley, and Jackson Soul Food. For more details and to RSVP, visit http://cashmobnoir.eventbrite.com.
