Colonial Courtyard at Bedford Resident served as Nurse Under MacArthur

Senior Living community's Veterans Day events will recognize those who served

EVERETT, Pa. - Nov. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- As a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, Ruth Maust Foor served in support of General Douglas MacArthur’s campaign to liberate the Philippines in the Pacific Theater.

     Among a group of trailblazing Army Nurse Corps members, she served in the 120th General Hospital. Foor will be among 14 veterans recognized at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford during a Veterans Day ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the senior living community, 220 Donahue Manor Road, Bedford.

     “Ruth followed General MacArthur through the Philippines Campaign,” said Ella Bowman, Director of Sales and Marketing at Colonial Courtyard at Bedford. “She is part of a generation that served and sacrificed so much for our country. It’s important to recognize all of our veterans.”

      Foor served from Feb. 15, 1943 to Jan. 22, 1946. She was in the Philippines Islands, New Guinea and Luzon.

     She earned the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Medal.
