Capital One Associates Band Together to Help Meet Needs of Nonprofits and Schools during One Week

Nov. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- From Oct. 21 through Oct. 27, more than 1,650 North Texas Capital One associates spent a total of almost 4,150 hours helping local nonprofits during “One Week”, Capital One’s national Capital One volunteer initiative.

Across Texas, approximately 3,300 Capital One associates participated in One Week activities.

In Plano, Capital One volunteers participated in:

·         A half-day “Scope-A-Thon” at Capital One’s Plano Campus facilitated by the TapRoot Foundation, a Capital One nonprofit partner. During the Scope-A-Thon, a team of skilled local professionals from Capital One offered pro bono consulting to 10 area nonprofits in need of actionable solutions to critical challenges they face.

·         A "Women Empowerment Session" for female residents of the Samaritan Inn. During the session, women associates from Capital One’s Plano campus led small group discussions with approximately 20 Samaritan Inn residents on a range of basic but important topics related to achieving and maintaining success in the workforce. Topics included self-care, professional etiquette, interview tips, and job-readiness.

·         A project to make improvements to the outdoor space at Bowman Middle School.

“Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is a tremendous source of pride for all of us at Capital One,” said David Haufler. “During ‘One Week’ and at other times of the year we focus on partnering with nonprofits that have a proven track record of meeting the needs of individuals, families and businesses in the communities we serve.”
