Marlborough Library Reception for the Arts to Feature Music by the Ed Mascari Jazz Duo

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - Nov. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Marlborough, MA – The Ed Mascari Jazz Duo featuring Ed Mascari-piano and Rebecca Wellons-saxophone & flute will provide music for the First Lady’s Reception for the Arts: 42nd Annual Regional Juried Art Exhibition on Tuesday evening, November 12th at the Marlborough Public Library, Bigelow Auditorium, 35 West Main St, Marlborough, MA 01752 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Ed Mascari, well known Hudson piano teacherand Rebecca Wellons are both Hudson residents-neighbors who live on Lake Boon. This summer, they discovered their musical compatibility and put together their jazz duo. Their repertoire includes pieces such as Night and Day, When I Fall in Love, Desafinado, Have You Met Miss Jones and Take Five. Ed Mascari has maintained a professional performing career for more than four decades. In his early career, he worked as a jazz organist leading his own quartet playing concerts at many New England Colleges. Later he played electric piano and synthesizer in “Top 40” bands and then performed as a solo pianist at such venues as the Sheraton Boston Hotel and for 14 years at the Radisson Milford Hotel. Since 1981, Ed has been the organist/pianist/choir director at the Hartford Street Presbyterian Church in Natick. Ed’s many classical compositions have been performed in the USA and in Europe and are published by Keiser Music with recordings on Parma Records. He is a graduate of Holy Cross College and holds two Master of Music degrees from New England Conservatory.

Rebecca Wellons has performed with the Chagall Performing Arts Collaborative, the Chagall PAC Saxophone Quartet and the Boston Conservatory Wind Ensemble. She has also participated in numerous premieres of music for saxophone including works by Aaron Jay Myers, Claudio Gabriele, and Tolga Yayalar. Rebecca can be heard on Cauchemar Records.

As an educator, Rebecca is Director of the Jazz and Concert Bands at the Wayland Middle School and has taught at Bridgewater State University as well as in the Wakefield, Groton and Wellesley public schools. Rebecca earned degrees from Indiana University (BME) and The Boston Conservatory (MMEd and MM).  Her teachers have included Kenneth Radnofsky, Otis Murphy, and Eugene Rousseau.
