JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Nov. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Jersey City, NJ – On Friday, October 18, 2013 at about 4:20 p.m., an employee of Buy-Wise Auto Parts was directing a tractor trailer driver as he backed up into a loading dock when his head was pinned between the tractor trailer and the loading dock. The Buy-Wise employee was fighting for his life the afternoon he was transported by ambulance to Jersey City Medical Center.

The man was described as being in his early 30s, he suffered a serious head injury and was being treated by a trauma team after he was rushed from Buy-Wise Auto Parts located at Grand and Bishop to the hospital, said Robert Luckritz, the medical center director of emergency services.

“All I saw was blood coming out of his nose and mouth and people were screaming for the truck driver to pull up,” said a Buy-Wise employee. She said that, “He just passed out while he was still pinned.”

While the incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. that Friday afternoon, the ambulance arrived on the scene in less than four minutes. Since all of the EMTs and paramedics were working to stabilize the injured employee who was in critical condition, one of the responding firefighters had to drive the ambulance to Jersey City Medical Center.

Another Buy-Wise employee said, “He was directing the truck backing up into the dock and I don’t know if the driver didn’t see him.” He said that the emergency responders had the injured man en route to the hospital in a matter of minutes and that it was a cooperative effort between the firefighters and EMTs.

As police took pictures and investigated the scene, the driver of the PJAX Freight Systems truck sat inside the cab with his head slumped over.

According to Medical Center Spokesman, Mark Rabson, firefighters and hospital EMTs train together to better coordinate their emergency responses.
