TORONTO - Nov. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Emterra Group companies enjoyed tremendous success at the annual 2013 Recycling Council of Ontario Awards Gala, taking home two prestigious awards. Both Canadian Liquids Processors Ltd. and Emterra Environmental earned honours for innovation and achievement for waste minimization. Jim Bradley, Minister of the Environment for Ontario was on hand for the event recognizing high standards of achievement at the October 24 event.

Canadian Liquids Processors (CLP) http://www.emterra.ca/services/canadian-liquid-waste-processing, based in Hamilton, earned the highest possible Platinum Award in the category of Sustainable Product or Services. The CLP product Transformations TM is a windshield washer fluid that is made from stale sugar and alcohol based consumer beverages. Along with other liquid industrial and commercial waste, these waste beverages transformed into industrial grade ethanol. The end product a windshield washer fluid that produces zero toxic waste from cradle to grave that is utilized by transport fleets. What’s more, Transformations TM washer fluid offers the same level of efficacy as typical toxic, methanol based washer fluids.  It is of particular interest to corporate fleets and companies that wish to minimize the environmental impact of their operations and as part of their sustainability goals.

“We are very proud of the environmental features of our Transformations TM windshield washer fluid. It is truly a 100% closed-loop product that achieves zero waste,” said CLP General Manager Erica Seibert. “To have this product and our enterprise recognized by our peers with a RCO platinum award is indeed an honour for our entire company.”

Emterra Environmental (http://www.emterra.ca) was recognized along with Niagara Region for their partnership and results in increasing the amount of waste diverted from landfill and recycling within Niagara communities. The “Make Your Contribution at the Curb” initiative earned a Silver Award by the RCO in the Municipal Special Program category. This program sees Emterra contribute $1 for every tonne of collected recyclable materials.  The contribution of funds will be in the form of a donation to the Niagara Health System Foundation for medical equipment throughout the life of the 7 year contract currently in place. Donations to the regional health centre have already started flowing, with $76,000 donated thus far. The impact of the program will provide a direct benefit to the residents of Niagara, and has had a positive impact on recycling adoption among residents. Corporations and institutions have also been invited to participate to increase the contribution potential of the program.

Paulina Leung, Emterra’s Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Business Development noted, “The “Make Your Contribution” challenge is a success because of the cooperative efforts of many partners including Bell Media and Sun Media but most particularly the Region of Niagara.  Emterra is delighted that our unique approach to giving back to the community has received this accolade.”  Emterra is riding on a wave of recent awards, including recognition last week as the 2013 Manitoba Filipino Business Association’s Employer of the Year.

Emterra Group is the parent of three operating divisions; Emterra Environmental, Emterra Tire Recycling, and Canadian Liquids processors.
