Dr. Lee Capone Puts The Charity Back Into Veterinary Medicine With Community Event

MANDEVILLE, La. - Nov. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Mandeville, LA – Local veterinarian Dr. Lee Capone has dedicated his life to animals. His 32-year career started back in 80s and since the beginning he has been about making a difference in the lives of his patients. Though many believe veterinary medicine, like human medicine is all about the numbers, Dr. Capone has always firmly believed every animal deserves a chance regardless if it is a homeless stray or owned. Dr. Capone, affectionately known as Dr. C to those who work with him, takes time to work with local animal rescues such as Lovers Not Biters from New Orleans, LA, often helping them by providing boarding, care and life-saving surgeries for little to no-cost. He has also taken the time to assist struggling pet owners to help them have better access to care for their pets, often taking in patients other vets have turned away. Currently, if you take a stroll through the practice’s impressive boarding facilities, you will notice a few loving faces, these are the dogs that have been abandoned at the clinic. Dr. Capone has promised to house and care for these homeless animals until they find homes. The staff at his clinic also works tirelessly for less fortunate animals, by taking the time to work with the special case animals to make them more adoptable, giving them a second chance at life when other shelters would have simply put them down. Dr. Capone believes that veterinarians should keep in mind the oath they took when in vet school and always take the time to give back to the community and their animals.

About The Health Fair

To help give back to more pet owners in the local community, Dr. Capone and his staff came up with the concept of a low-cost health fair. The staff picks one Saturday out of the month quarterly where they open their doors and provide deeply discounted services to the community, including free health exams. Owners are even able to get a potentially life-saving heartworm test for only $10.00; also blood work often needed to detect early disease and illness is available deeply discounted off the regular price. Dr. Capone hopes by offering preventive care at a deeply discounted rate, pet owners can potentially save their pets lives with early detection. Vaccines, microchipping, pet adoptions, educational seminars and more are also available. The next health fair is Saturday November 23, 2013 from 9am-2pm at his Mandeville clinic located at 155 Moores RD. Mandeville LA, 70471. A portion of the proceeds from this event go to help the local animal rescues the clinic works with in the area.
