R&M Addresses Growing Middle East Fiber to the Home Market with Newly Launched Venus SCM Solution

Nov. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: R&M, the Swiss structured cabling specialist, has developed and launched a new range of highly versatile distributor boxes for fine distribution of fiber optics in the final meters to the customer's cabling infrastructure. The Venus SCM boxes expand the R&Mfoxs FTTH range, which consists of standard cabling solutions for all network levels up to Fiber to the Home (FTTH).

The new Venus SCM boxes can be easily fitted or retrofitted on site and can serve as platforms for splice and splitter cabling as well as for patch and CWDM cabling. Single Circuit Management (SCM) is an advancement by R&M which enables individual fibers and subscribers to be managed using a handy and scalable modular tray technology. With SCM trays, as many as 72 subscribers can be separated in a single box. The inserts for the patch area are also quick to install in a rapid mounting procedure and can be retrofitted successively.

The Venus SCM boxes are available in three sizes with packing density ranges from 144 to 864 splice connections or twelve to 192 patch connections. The splice area is equipped with the different SCM trays for fiber management, which can be easily installed and removed. Using the Venus SCM boxes, network operators can easily multiply the utility of their networks. They can also build up seamless point-to-multipoint infrastructures (P2MP) or quickly increase the density of connections in a building or supply area. The Venus SCM boxes are also suitable for loop cabling.

The distributor housings can accommodate all common types of cable on the market depending on the application involved: subscriber, loose-tube, mini and micro cables as well as patch cords. Cable guidance in the housing ensures a gentle bending radius and allows generous cable and fiber management with integrated reserves. The Venus housings made of sturdy gray ASA plastic are suitable for use indoors and out and is mountable on masts or facades. They meet the requirements of ingress protection classes IP43 and IP54.

One of the outstanding features of R&M's SCM products is that they offer a minimum bending radius of 40 millimeters. This stress-free radius minimizes attenuation losses in the fibers and facilitates easier handling during installation. That has a decisive effect on loss-free signal transmission over the long term. With the SCM system, R&M is the only supplier on the market to guarantee the 40-millimeter minimum bending radius throughout all network levels even in connection with a high packing density.
