ACTE launch Cinterion AGS2 M2M module for automotive eCall and FNOL applications

BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Nov. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Utilising the same LGA package footprint and pin compatibility with other 3G and 2G M2M wireless modules in the Gemalto range, AGS2 builds on a successful range of automotive grade products for integration into eCall, First Notification of Loss (FNOL), toll collect, onboard vehicle telematics and fleet management applications.

AGS2 is based on the “long life” generation of Intel’s Quad Band GSM/GPRS baseband chipset. This ensures a long term availability of key components benefitting users by undergoing less re-approval processes and costs over the lifetime of the final product.

AGS2 is prepared to meet the comprehensive requirements of the European eCall initiative and features in band modem functionality such as voice prompts, VDA 6.2 audio quality, jamming detection, antenna diagnosis as well as advanced SSL encryption to support IP based services.

Measuring just 27.6x18.8x2.7mm, the LGA mounted AGS2 operates on quad band (850, 900, 1800 and 1900MHz) GSM/GPRS bands allowing global 2G connectivity. Full control is via AT commands, which includes TCP/IP stack access and other TCP server/client internet services such as UDP, SMTP, POP3, FTP client and HTTP client.

Operating on a voltage range of 3.3 – 4.5V, AGS2 is highly optimised for minimal power consumption, which includes just 1.35A peak power in 900MHz 2G mode. Being a true industrial product, AGS2 allows full functioning operation at -40 to 90˚C. As with all Cinterion® wireless M2M modules from Gemalto, AGS2 is R&TTE, GCF, CE, FCC, PTCRB, IC, UL and E-Mark approved.
