“Harvest Collection: Albertina Walker” To Be Released By Sonorous Entertainment On Nov. 5, 2013

TORONTO - Oct. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- Albertina Walker joins other legendary gospel groups and artists, such as The Swan Silvertones and Shirley Caesar, on the Harvest Gospel Album Series with the release of this new compilation album on November 5, 2013. Known as the “Queen of Gospel”, Albertina Walker came into this world in 1929. Like many of her gospel contemporaries, she began her singing career singing with her church choir. One of her significant contributions to gospel music history came about in 1952, when she organized the legendary gospel singing group “The Caravans”. This group launched the careers of other influential gospel artists, such as Shirley Caesar, Inez Andrews, Dorothy Norwood and Reverend James Cleveland, as well as earning Albertina Walker the title of “Star Maker”. Her first solo recording happened in 1975 with “Put A Little Love In Your Heart.” The success that she had found with The Caravans continued into her solo career. She won a Grammy award and many Stellar awards, as well as earning Gold Records and an induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2001.

This new album collection features 12 digitally remastered songs, including “Put A Little Love In Your Heart”, the song that began her solo career, as well as her rarer heard song “Stand By Me”, and her version of the folk classic “If I Had A Hammer”. “Harvest Collection: Albertina Walker” will be available online and at all participating retail outlets on November 5, 2013.
