Platform58 launch new social community to connect and promote global artists

DOUGLAS, U.K. - Oct. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- Showcasing artists from around the world, Platform 58 has just launched a new and exciting global Ning community to complement its existing monthly online art publications and popular Facebook profile.

Created and curated by Mark Longbottom, Platform 58 started in 2008 with the primary aim of giving grass roots art a window to the world. Featuring artists from every corner of the globe, the original community proved incredibly popular with over 2.5 million views of the first 15 online publications alone connected to 20,000 people on MySpace.

The latest issue of the monthly online art publication entitled ‘Faces,' has been incredibly popular with over 4,000 views in the first 2 hours of release and features artists from Taiwan, Argentina and USA among many others.

Combining his love of art with his celebrated social media expertise, Mark’s mission has been clear from day one. ‘I’ve been involved with art all my life but was always frustrated that so much amazing talent all too often goes completely unnoticed. The aim of Platform 58 was to overcome this and make the stunning work of artists from around the world more accessible.

“The new Ning community is simply the next level of this, it not only provides a platform for showing the amazing array of global talent but more importantly creates a place where people can connect and discuss ideas, experiences and practises helping the members learn from each other. These networks and community bases will also be locations to bring awareness globally of how buyers can access and buy artwork from the members.”

A small subscription fee for members of just £12 a year covers the cost of hosting and managing the community site and creating the showcase publications for the artists, however, as Mark explained, much more is needed. “We desperately need the business community to embrace this initiative and show support to help develop, nurture and promote the stunning talent that is out there right now. Many of the artists have no way of raising their profile and without philanthropic support from businesses, this exciting community will struggle to fulfil its obvious potential.”
