Sorg Architects Announces First Ever New Principal, Rachel Chung, AIA

WASHINGTON - Oct. 31, 2013 - PRLog -- Washington, DC – Sorg Architects has promotedRachel Chung, AIA to Principal of Sorg Architects at its headquarters in Washington, DC. "Rachel has demonstrated her commitment to the highest standards for this firm and her leadership has helped create and sustain the thriving foundation of Sorg Architects," said Suman Sorg, chief designer and founder.  Sorg goes on to say, "Rachel has just done a great job since day one. She has shown her dedication and this is something that was well-deserved."

Rachel initially had an interest in engineering but later discovered her passion in architecture, completing her B.A. degree in Architecture at the University of Texas. Chung joined Sorg Architects on October 25 in 1993 as an architectural intern and had risen, in the intervening years, to Director of Architecture. She has relished the exposure to municipal projects, educational facilities, large scale developments in India, complex federal government projects and especially mentorship from Suman Sorg. “There is never a dull moment at this firm and I think one thing that attracts clients and staff is the exposure and diversity of project scales that we do.” Chung goes on to say, “I am dedicated to this office and always thinking about what is best for the future of the firm, but now I will look at it with a different view. I want to make a difference, develop the core group and share my excitement with everyone. I am really looking forward to the next 20 years.”
