Follow on Google News | Midstate Dodge Donates 44 Used Tires to Wheels for Warmth ProgramBy: Midstate Dodge “As Vermonters know, winter is a very tough season,” states Jay. “Being born and raised here, we know that many people struggle to keep their homes heated during the winter months. It’s important to us to help where we can, and the Wheels for Warmth program is a great avenue to do so.” Wheels for Warmth aids Vermonters on fixed incomes who need help with fuel costs during the winter. The program, created by Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott, collects used tires that meet state inspection standards in sizes ranging from 13 inches through 17 inches. The tires are then sold for very discounted amounts to those needing winter tires, and all proceeds of the tire sales go directly into the state’s fuel assistance program. Tires that do not meet state inspection standards can be recycled at Casella Waste facilities with tire collection units for $4 per tire, and Casella donates the entirety of the recyclable fees to the fuel assistance program as well. To date, the program has collected over $175,000. “We’ve been participating in Wheels for Warmth for seven years and each year we are able to donate a little more,” states Jay. “Our hope next year is for two trucks!” About Midstate Dodge Midstate Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram & Hyundai is one of the leading dealerships in the Barre-Montpelier area of Vermont, serving customers from all over the tri-state area for over thirty years.
