By: Poricy Park Conservancy For children aged 3 1/2 to 6 years old Explore the richness of nature as it prepares for winter throughout Poricy Park! A nurturing naturalist will lead children on hikes, captivate them with nature stories, and engage them in fun crafts and activities. This is an ongoing weekly session; you may sign up for multiple weeks or individual weeks that meet your schedule. Class size is limited and program payment is required with signed registration form. Thursdays, Mornings 9:30am-11:30am OR Afternoons 12 pm-2pm Fee: Multiple session & sibling discounts available Members $18 per session; Non-members-$ Note: Registration required one week in advance Traditional Yoga Ongoing sessions with certified instructor, Julee Csuri, who will lead gently and tailor exercises to suit the specific needs of each participant. Perfect opportunity to start a healthier you – wear comfortable clothing, bring mat if you have one. Advance paid registration required. Saturdays 10am-11am for Teens & Adults. Meet at the Nature Center. Fee: $12 members; $15 non-members Mother Nature’s Camp Tuesday, Nov 5th, Thursday, Nov 7th, Friday, Nov 8th, Monday, Nov 11th 9:00am-12:00pm OR 9:00am-3:00pm Each day has its very own theme to explore. Appropriate for children pre-K through 5th grade. Children will be assigned to age-appropriate groups based on registration. Tuesday – Feathers are Fabulous Imagine being able to fly like a bird. Decipher the uniqueness of bird feathers and how this adaptation is like no other using scientific equipment and experiments as well as field observations. Thursday – Call of the Wild Discover the creatures behind the hoots and howls with hands-on activities and games. See what ‘goofy’ things animals are doing while exploring the nature trails and engaging in exciting activities. Friday – Treasure Hunt Eagerly delve into this search for natural treasures as an incredibly fun way to explore the world around us. Adventure complete with hikes, games, and crafts. Monday – Eco-Quest! Focus on the connection between people, plants, and animals while creating recycled crafts, nature hikes and games. Fee: Register for one or all – the choice is yours! Half Day: $40 Members; $45 Non-members Full Day: $58 Members; $66 Non-members Sibling discounts and extended care (8am-6pm) are available. Meet at the Nature Center; pre-registration required. Turkey-Licious Fun! Discover interesting factoids about this native North American bird that was given its name through a misunderstanding by citizens in Britain! Your adventure will include a walk through known wild turkey territory within Poricy Park. So dress for the weather and bring your camera. Appropriate for all ages (children must be accompanied by their adult). Please courteously register in advance. Meet at the Nature Center. Sunday, November 17th 3pm-4pm Regular program fees apply. Hike and See! Walk away from the leftovers and enjoy a relaxed nature hike through peaceful Poricy Park trails. Hikers will look around and see what is ‘left over’ from the growing season and discover nature’s seasonal wonders. The hike will end at the authentic 1770’s Murray Farmhouse where you can receive a guided tour. Then you can visit the annual Holiday & Craft Gift Shop in the Annex to satisfy your shopping desires too. Dress for the weather. Appropriate for all ages (children must be supervised by an adult). Please courteously register in advance. Friday, Nov 29th - Trail Hike: 10am-11am & Farmhouse Tour: 11am-11:30am Meet at the Nature Center by 10AM for hike. Donations gratefully accepted and will help support the continuing educational programming as well as being tax deductible! Crafty Cards Bring your imagination and the supplies will be provided, along with some fun techniques, to create your own fabulous personalized greeting card. Appropriate for ages 7 to 107 (Children must be supervised/aided by an adult). Please register in advance. Meet at the Nature Center. Regular program fees apply. Sunday, December 8th, 1:30pm-2:30pm Historic Murray Farmhouse Candlelight Reception This is a traditional favorite and time to relax. Savor a warm apple cider while you enjoy the sweet sounds of our minstrel Tony Sloan. The perfect blending of old years and new ones. (Children must be accompanied & supervised by an adult).Walk- Saturday, December 28th, 3pm-5pm Programs are held rain or shine, so please dress accordingly. Unless otherwise noted, recommended program donations are $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Maximum per family household is $20 members with PPC Family Membership or higher, and $25 non-members; Poricy Park Conservancy is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization located in MiddletownTownship. All community and summer camp programs are run by Poricy Park Conservancy. PoricyPark is located at 345 Oak Hill Road in MiddletownTownship. With exceptional ecological resources, the 250 acre historical and nature site makes it one of the largest parks in MonmouthCounty. The Park offers recreational activities such as magnificent wooded hiking trails, bird watching, pristine pond settings, fishing, and a one-of-a-kind 70 million year-old Cretaceous fossil bed.
