Carlos J. Canino Installed as President of the Board for Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc

MIAMI - Oct. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- The Honorable Judge John W. Thornton, Jr., of the Circuit Civil Division of Miami, recently installed new Board Officers and Board members of Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc. (LSGMI) at an event generously hosted by Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A.

Carlos J. Canino, Esq., of Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A., was installed as Board President; Jeffrey B. Crockett, Esq., of Coffey Burlington, L.L.P., as First Vice President; Lionel Lightbourne, representing the Belafonte Tacolcy Center, as Second Vice-President; Jordi Guso, Esq., of Berger Singerman, as Treasurer; and Tiffani G. Lee, Esq., of Holland & Knight as Secretary.  Canino previously served as First Vice-President and Crockett as Board Treasurer.

“We recognize that our low income citizens, when faced with legal trouble, if given a helping hand, will bounce back and continue to be productive members of our society,”said Canino.

Also installed were new Board members Enny Avila, representing Children’s Medical Services – South Region; A. Dax Bello, Esq., of Stewart Tilghman Fox Bianchi & Cain, P.A., representing Cuban American Bar Association; Dolly Hernandez, Esq., ofRafool & Hernandez, L.L.C., and Barnaby L. Min, Esq., of Jackson Health Systems, representing the Dade County Bar Association; and Ja’na Smith, representing Greater Miami Service Corps.

The following outgoing Board officers were acknowledged for their dedicated service: Lance A. Harke, Esq., of Harke Clasby & Bushman, L.L.P., who served two-terms as Board President; Yanick J. Landess, representing Fanm Ayisyen Nan Miyami, Inc. (FANM), who served as Second Vice-President; and Nancy Ciampa, Esq., Carlton Fields, P.A., who served as Secretary. In a testament to their dedication, they will continue to serve on the Board. Outgoing board members Nicole E. Mestre, Esq., of Mestre Law and Cristina B. Rodriguez, Esq., of Squire Sanders were also recognized for their service.
