Lilly’s Hummus Moves to New Portland Waterfront Facility

PORTLAND, Ore. - Oct. 29, 2013 - PRLog -- In October, 2013 Lilly’s Hummus and parent company Oregon Harvest moved into a new, eighty thousand square foot facility on eleven acres of protected wetlands on Portland’s Columbia River Slough. Their newly rebuilt facility provides an expanded production space and room to grow their product line, which is slated to include various dips, spreads, deserts and their proprietary hazelnut shell briquettes in 2014.

Oregon Harvest purchased the property formerly occupied by Fletcher’s Fine Foods in August, 2013 and began construction shortly thereafter. Oregon Harvest has since completed twelve hundred square feet of state of the art refrigeration and cooling units, a custom research and development lab and an on site repair facility.

Lilly’s Hummus was born six years ago when Lilly Miscoe whipped up a batch of hummus for a dinner party using fresh jalapenos and red peppers she roasted over her husband’s new invention; hazelnut shell briquettes. That first batch of hummus became such a favorite with Lilly’s family and friends, that she and her husband, Michael, began selling it at local farmer’s markets.

Lilly’s Hummus, as a division of Oregon Harvest, has grown exponentially each year they have been in production, growing from a stall in their local farmers market to a nationally distributed fresh product in less than six years. Their new facility will allow them all the room they need to grow their product line, introduce new product lines and even cultivate other small businesses.

Lilly’s Hummus uses certified organic garbanzo beans, real imported olive oil and 100% pure tahini. All of their vegetables are gathered from local, sustainable Oregon and Washington farms. No preservatives or artificial ingredients are used in any Oregon Harvest products. Lilly’s Hummus is naturally gluten free and vegan.

Oregon Harvest is a generous contributor to their community, giving back at every opportunity. Their small acreage along the Columbia River Slough fosters more than one hundred species of birds, including Bald Eagles and Great Blue Heron, twelve native species of fish, western pond turtles, beaver, muskrat, river otter, and black-tailed deer. They have made portions of this property available to local nonprofits for fundraising and events.
