Follow on Google News | New Book Honors Dover’s Legendary LocalsLocal author celebrates notable residents using spectacular, vintage images
Vintage images coupled with facts and anecdotes culled by local author Matthew Lautenheiser reveal the fascinating history of legendary locals in Dover. “Dover is truly fortunate to have such a wealth of great individuals in such a small town,” Lautenheiser said, and hopes readers will connect with the stories in the book. Legends featured in the new book include Jeremiah Reeves who turned Dover into an industrial center at the end of the 19th century; Christian Deis and Samuel Fertig who operated the county’s largest wholesale grocery; and Charlie Deeds whose numerous projects and community service have shaped Dover in the past 40 years. During his research for the project the author found inspiration at every turn. “Those chronicled in this book provide a road map to not only success but also a life well lived—a life that breeds personal advancement and also community improvement. To find role models, one does not need to look to professional sports or Hollywood; they can be found a lot closer to home,” shared Lautenheiser. Join the Author for a Book Signing!
