FLORENCE, Italy - Oct. 29, 2013 - PRLog -- The brushstrokes of the Impressionists, with all of their typical colour and light, will take centre stage in Florence's autumn events with the major exhibition on the Impressionists heldin association with the Museo D’Orsay of Paris, home to the finest and most important collection of Impressionist works.

The Impressionists depicted objects and people in the same way, with decisive, broad, atmospheric brushstrokes and an emphasis on the way the light conditions changed as the day progressed. This is because they worked exclusively en plein air. The moniker Impressionism was first used during the Exposition Impressioniste in relation to a painting by Monet, Soleil Levant. A painting of light and shade, strong and vivid colours, impression de la realité.

The exhibition will host 12 masterpieces of the Impressionist period, ranging from Edgar Degas, present with two famous works, including the famous Répétition d'un ballet sur la scène del 1874, to Claude Monet,  Paul Cézanne, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Camille Pissarro, Henri Fantin-Latour and Paul Guigou. The rooms of Palazzo Pitti will be awash with timeless works of art, highlighting the collaboration between the two institutions which saw loans made to the Orangerie of Paris on 10 April for the successful major exhibition “Les macchiaioli, des impressionistes italiens?”.

According to Cristina Acidini, Head of Polo Museale Fiorentino, with this exhibition “It is possible to offer visitors to the modern art gallery, temporarily missing some of the paintings of the Macchiaioli, a significant collection of 19th century French Impressionist masterpieces that does not represent a straightforward loan but rather the culmination of a joint venture".

Firenzemadeintuscany (http://www.firenzemadeintuscany.com/it/), with its up-to-date guide on the main artistic, cultural, music and culinary events in the city and Tuscany, will accompany us every day on our discovery of this incredible exhibition, providing us with in-depth information and interviews but also suggesting original tours of the city that shun the usual beaten tourist path.

The Impressionist works of art will be exhibited in the Salone da Ballo in the Quartiere d’Inverno of Palazzo Pitti from 23 September 2013 to 5 January 2014.
