BOCA RATON, Fla. - Oct. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Protravel International has partnered with the SS St Louis Legacy Project Foundation for a fourteen day Crystal Serenity Cruise to Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the sailing of the SS St Louis.  The ship carrying 937 Jewish passengers fleeing growing Nazi persecution has become a symbol of the world's indifference to the plight of the Jews during WWII.  The cruise will depart on November 5, 2014 from New York, cruise to the Caribbean, and will disembark in Miami.  On this historic Crystal Cruise voyage passengers will be experience the program "Retracing the SS St  Louis History"  and will 1) be treated to the rare experience to view the new documentary film "COMPLICIT: the untold story of why the Roosevelt Administration denied safe haven to Jewish refugees:, 2) meet and interact with filmmaker Robert Krakw and producer Ruth Ann Kalish, and 3) meet surviving passengers from the SS St Louis.  In addition, there will an interactive presentation of the critically acclaimed play, The Trial of Franklin D Roosevelt and a showig of the SS St Louis Archival Exhibit which include original documents from the U.S. State Department Archives.  Crystal Cruise passengers will hear stories of SS St Louis survivors who saw the coastline of Miami 75 years ago.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to hear from those who experienced what is now viewed as a key event that sent the message to Hitler that no one wanted the Jews.

Herbert Karliner, the leader of the SS St Louis survivor group and a Board member of the SS St Louis Legacy Project Foundation was recently interviewed regarding his pre sailing experience in Nazi Germany, his voyage on the SS St Louis, his harrowing years in France during the war, and his life in America.  Most poignant were his comments about his anticipated emotions when he will enter the port of Miami in November 2014 on the final leg of the Crystal Serenity Cruise.  He reflected, "when I approach Miami during the sailing of the Crystal Cruise in November 2014, I think I will see myself as a boy of 12 realizing my dream to come to Miami came true.  But I know I have never stopped thinking and being sad about why my parents, sisters, and other family members couldn't be with me and why they had to perish so horribly.  Goebbel's propaganda opened the door to the final soluion.  It can happen again."

The SS St Louis Legacy Project Foundation is a nonprofit 501 (C4).  The Foundation is dedicated to education through drama on issues of human rights, anti-Semitism, immigration and the fight against genocide.  The Foundation uses education through drama to educate multi-generation audiences about signal events in world history, include the story of the voyage of the SS St Louis.
