Buffalo Film Expo Finalizes Schedule

The first Buffalo Film Expo, sponsored by Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival and Stellar Shows is an event aimed at film and television professionals, semi-professionals, hobbyists, aspiring filmmakers, students and film enthusiast.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Oct. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- The first Buffalo Film Expo, sponsored by Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival and Stellar Shows, has finalized its schedule.  The event is aimed at film and television professionals, semi-professionals, hobbyists, aspiring filmmakers, students and film enthusiast.  A Networking Room includes vendor tables for production companies, independent artists and merchants, and the Panels Room features Q&A sessions with regional professionals.  The expo runs from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday. November 3rd at Holiday Inn Buffalo Airport, 4600 Genessee Street.  Admission is only $5.00.

Schedule of events:

11:00 am    "Designing Film" - Production/Art designer Joel Resnikoff, set builder Rod Durick.  One of the most ignored areas of indie film, and one which contributes immeasurably to the authenticity and look of a film; also, a key factor if you decide to take advantage of the New York State Tax Incentive, which requires the construction of a set with three walls on a certified sound stage.

12:00 pm    "Your Film Commissions and the New York State Tax Incentive" - Buffalo Niagara Film Commissioner Tim Clark; Niagara Film Office Operations Manager Rich Wall; Rochester/Finger Lakes Film & Video Office Executive Director Nora Brown.   Discussion includes working with the local film commissions and meeting the criteria for the New York State Tax Incentive for film and television.

1:15 pm     "Modern Cinematography" - Chris Santucci, Matthew Nardone and Clint Byrne discuss techniques and technology.

2:30 pm     "Film Acting and Casting" - Frank Rossi and Bryan Patrick Stoyle explain the business side of acting in films and casting them.

3:45 pm     "Special Make-Up Effects/Special Visual Effects" - Rod Durick, Adam Block, Arick Szymecki and John Renna.  Special effects combine artistry and technical know-how, and these four area experts detail what filmmakers need to know when planning to include them.

Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival founders Gregory Lamberson and Chris Scioli will announce the nominees for the Dreamer Awards, which will be presented on Sunday, November 10th at the Amherst Theatre, 3500 Main Street, at 5:30 pm.  Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival will show 85 films between Friday, Nov. 8th and Thursday, Nov. 14th, including 26 features, 59 shorts, 13 local productions, and 27 international films.  Over two dozen out of town filmmakers are expected to attend, including Lloyd Kaufman (Return to Nuke ‘Em High Vol. 1), Roy Frumkes (Animosity), Brett Kelly (My Fair Zombie) and Simon Pearce (Judas Ghost), who is coming to Buffalo from the UK.
