N.J. Environmental Company Believes Autism May Be related to Poor Indoor Air Quality

Recently a New Jersey environmental company reviewing New Jersey Autism Data, possible has found a link to autism and possible chemical exposure through contaminated indoor air quality.

NEW JERSEY, N.J. - Oct. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Nationwide the Federal Centers for Disease Control as estimated the rate of autism in the Uniuted States is approximate 1 in 80 children, New Jersey's Autism rates are approximately 1 in 49 children. It is a possiblity that New Jersey doctors are beter at the Diagnosis of Autism but New Jersey appears to have a  higher level than other states. Since there is currently no diagnostic or blood test for Autism it hard to identify a specific cause. Most Autism cases are diagnosed by behavioral characteristics and since there is no clinical way of determining the extent Autism in children the finding cause of this desease is illusive. New Jersey at one time had over 20,000 known contaminated sites. The chances of living near one of these sites is high. It been documented by the medical comnumity the health effects on chidren exposed to lead and other chemicals. Fetuses exposed to alcohol, ciggerette smoke  via there environmenta are know to suffer some type of birth defects. Carcinogenic chemicals can cause cancer and New Jersey although not scientifically proven has had a number of so called "cancer clusters" that have higher than normal rates than other parts of the state. So of these cancer clusters were located in counties that had EPA designated " Superfund Sites"  Recently the EPA and New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection have inacted laws regarding chemical "Vapor Intrusion . These laws were enacted because high concentrations of volatile organic chemicals including Benzene and chlorinated solvents have been found in residential homes at high levels. Exposure to air bourne chemical vapors can not be ruled out as a contributing factor or cause of Autism. Chemical exposure is also depended on dose relationship and genetic make-up of the indivudual exposed.  Environmental Systems can use EnviroScan "  to test for chemicals and mold in residential or a commercial structure.. EnviroScan will identify chemical compounds that are on the New Jersey Department of Health targeted chemical compaound list that may pssible exceed state mandated action levels. The source of Vapor Intrusion Chemicals can be from chemical, gas or heating oil tanks located on the property or 1000 feet or more away. Chemicals such as formeldehyde can be from off gasing of rugs and further newly introduced to a structure. Environmental Systems recomends indoor air quality testing be completed before purchase as part of the Home Inspection Due Diligence process .  Identification of indoor air quality issues before purchase can prevent the buyer from having Indoor Air Quality Health related Issues later.
