Follow on Google News | Knoxville Franchisee Sets Weekly Sales Record For GyreneWith only three weeks in business, the newest restaurant on the University of Tennessee "Strip" set the weekly sales record for Gyrene Burger Company.
"This is a big accomplishment," Monaghan, who founded the military-themed hamburger delivery concept in late 2011, also founded Domino's Pizza and ran the company for more than 40 years before selling it for $1 billion in 1998. Monaghan, a pioneer in the pizza delivery business said he has big plans for Gyrene Burger and intends to open 20,000 units. "Burgers are #1 food in America," he said. "We are the first true burger delivery company." Gyrene Burger had two corporate owned stores in Naples, Fla., prior to issuing the first out-of-state franchisee agreement to BLCW Enterprises, LLC, the management company run by Wynkoop. "I'm very excited to hit this benchmark," said Wynkoop who credited the upset win by the Tennessee Volunteers over the South Carolina Gamecocks to help propel his weekly sales beyond any of the records the franchise created in their first two years in Florida. "We noticed a nice uptick in business after the game, but the truth is, we're seeing consistent growth in the delivery side of the business which really put us in a great position going into gameday." Despite just 1 month since his opening, this is not the only record set by the Knoxville franchisee. Wynkoop and his team set the single day sales record for Gyrene Burger Oct. 5, during the Tennessee versus Georgia home football game. Gyrene and BLCW Enterprises, LLC have a mult-unit franchise agreement in the Knox, Blount and Sevier counties and intend to expand the franchise throughout these territories over the next 5 years.
