ATLANTA - Oct. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Justina Mutale, African Woman of the Year 2012 and Founder/ CEO of POSITIVE RUNWAY: Global Catwalk to Stop the Spread has urged female Chief Executive Officers to move from simply being good to being great at what they do.

Mutale was speaking in her capacity as Honorary Ambassador for Gender Equality and Spokesperson for the International Women’s Think Tank at the Opening Ceremonies of the International Women’s Center hosted by the International Women’s Think Tank in collaborative partnership with Agnes Scott College on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Agnes Scott College, Atlanta, Georgia in the USA.

In her message titled “From Good to Great: Women as Chief Executives,” Mutale reminded women executives of the importance of branding, intellectual property rights, patents and trademarks, and fast tracking of skills development and knowledge transfer through top-notch training, leadership development, mentoring and creating networks of movers and shakers through women’s organizations like the International Women’s Think Tank.  She also spoke about the forces of change at play for CEO’s, the role women play to bring diversity and to influence the global agenda, and the focus to promote the social and economic empowerment of women in relation to access to finance, product development and manufacturing.

“To move from good to great as women, we need to reassert ourselves. In addition to unlearning the traditional mindsets and social conditioning, as women leaders we need to empower our fellow women to continuously improve and push the limits that have been placed on our full potential to participate in the political, economic and social spheres and to influence the global agenda”, expressed Mutale.

The International Women’s Think Tank (IWTT) is a leading women’s organization located in Atlanta, Georgia, which promotes intellectual research, critical thinking and innovative solutions on issues related to women and girls. Agnes Scott is a liberal arts college for women and educates women to think deeply, live honorably and engage the intellectual and social challenges of their times.

Mutale, also a philanthropist, humanitarian and human rights advocate, brings her relationships to the International Women’s Think Tank in collaboration with Founder & CEO Brenda Morant and the IWTT Team. Mutale was appointed as Honorary Ambassador for Gender Equality to the International Women’s Think Tank earlier this year.

Her advocacy and empowerment of women and girls inspires everyone in her path. While in Atlanta she also met with Positive Runway co-founder Mambwe Janet  Kamenga for the Red Carpet Nominations party for their Global FFMTT Awards, an awards show that recognizes  talent in multiple areas of sports, television, music, theatre, film, and fashion.  The Global FFMTT Awards is a gesture of goodwill by POSITIVE RUNWAY to thank, recognize, honor and celebrate special advocates from various industries who help spread the message to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS and other scourges that negatively impact today’s young generation.

“Ms. Mutale’s collaboration with IWTT will provide greater resources, experiences and opportunities that will strengthen the delivery of The International Women’s Think Tank approach to build value for resourcing women globally”, says Morant, Founder, Chair & CEO of the IWTT-IWC.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the IWTT Team on such a brilliant initiative to elevate the status of women in the 21st century”, stated Mutale on her recent appointment.

Mutale joins a list of highly respected international personalities from the arenas of government, education, business, agriculture, STEM and media who are serving as Honorary Ambassadors for the IWTT, and who are chosen because of their eminent name recognition and because of the respect with which they are held worldwide and their appeal as genuine humanitarians and business people.

“While working in Atlanta during my trip, I was impressed with how the IWTT promotes intellectual research, critical thinking and innovative solutions on issues related to women and girls, who are the fastest growing economy.  As the world becomes more global, IWTT works to empower women and girls by increasing intercultural understanding, driving economic growth, exploring collaborative opportunities and partnerships that uplift the human condition and improve the quality of life, and I am honored to be a part of this mission,” shared Mutale.

In addition to her vast work internationally, Mutale’s recent trip to the USA gave her opportunities to work with local politicians, as well as her American volunteers and supporters of Positive Runway, Global Catwalk, which now spans the globe in over 130 countries.

“I am constantly inspired by Justina’s wisdom, grasp of international current events, genteel compassion for others, and passion for helping women and young girls in every city,” detailed O’Brien, publicist, emcee, and event coordinator for Positive Runway in California. “Working with Justina is not only inspirational and educational, but her work ethic encourages me to keep going on multiple projects in which I volunteer to support the global efforts of Positive Runway right here in the heart of Hollywood. Whenever she comes to the USA, we are exhausted but exhilarated with our many accomplishments during her  time in the USA. We make use of every minute we have together, even when it is on the cell phone as she is sitting on the plane to fly back to London. We do what we can to make a difference in the world.”

In other international efforts, Mutale has worked with the London, England based Gender Section of the Commonwealth Secretariat; a membership of 54 countries that promote the advancement of gender equality; and the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.

For Mutale, as she departed back to the UK once again, it’s all in a month’s work, and she is already planning her next trip to the USA for February 2014 for her Global FFMTT Awards, where the very best of Music Artists; Actors; Actresses; Film Producers; Fashion Designers; Television Personalities; Radio Personalities; Record Producers; Record Labels; Recording Studios; Models; Dancers; Choreographers; Comedians; DJs; Event Promoters; Celebrity Stylists; Hair Stylists; Make-up Artists; Photographers; Print and Electronic Media will be recognized for their global achievements.
