LOS ANGELES - Oct. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- As a retired police officer, AttachaPack Co-Founder Christina Thomas has responded to many a 211PC on Halloween.  211PC is the penal code referenced when a trick-or-treater is robbed of his or her candy bag!  An entrepreneur who's now working with her daughter, Christina shares her top safety tips for Halloween with parents.  Use these tips as guidelines and conversation starters with your kids to keep them safe and give yourself peace of mind so you can all fully enjoy the holiday.

Have a trick-or-treat route planned.  Set boundaries and a time limit.Have a cell phone with you if possible but do not keep it in the same bag as candy.
Stay in small groups accompanied by an adult.
Trick-or-treat at well lit houses and stay on well lit streets.
Accept treats at the door.  Never go inside a stranger’s house.
Do not eat any treat that is not sealed in a wrapper.  Parents should inspect all candy before it is consumed.
If confronted by someone trying to take your candy, give it to them – do not fight!
Be extra careful crossing streets on Halloween.  Cross only at street corners or crosswalks and never between parked cars or diagonally at street corners.
Do not accept rides from strangers.
Do not take short cuts through backyards, alleys, parks, etc.

A few costume safety tips:

Beware that some masks can impair vision and make it dangerous to cross the street without full peripheral vision.  It’s better to use make-up to create a mask.
If you are wearing dark clothes, make sure to wear a reflector or bring a flashlight.
Make sure costumes are flame retardant.  Lit pumpkins can be dangerous.
