Local Cary NC and Morrisville NC Mayors Declare OCT. 21-27 as “1000 Cranes Week”

WASHINGTON - Oct. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Mayor Weinbrecht (Cary), Mayor Holcomb (Morrisville) proclaim October 21-27, 2013 as “1000 Cranes Week” celebrating the contributions of nonprofits to the Triangle community.


“We are honored and thrilled that local Mayors are recognizing and supporting 1000 Cranes Week,” says Naomi Takeuchi, President and Founder of 1000 Cranes, a consulting firm focused on sustainable strategic planning and leadership development.

"We are excited about this opportunity to raise awareness of the impact of nonprofits to our community and celebrate the 10^th Anniversary of our company in North Carolina. These events taking place this week will support several nonprofits locally, and this year we are also building an onine pledge campaign to widen our outreach.”

Various fundraising events in Cary and Morrisville will celebrate local nonprofits and highlight the important work they do for the community.

Event:  Master Class with 2011 World Champion of Public Speaking, Jock Elliott,

1000 Cranes Week celebrates the life of a young girl, Sadako Sasaki, who died on October 25, 1955.  She attempted to fold 1000 origami cranes in hopes for a cure for leukemia she contracted from the effects of radiation after the bombing of Hiroshima.  Her death galvanized the community and started a peace movement that continues today. People around the world fold 1000 origami cranes as a sign of world peace.  1000 Cranes Week celebrates the contributions of nonprofits in our local communities and reminds us of the hope our communities bring to us.
