Breast Cancer Event This Saturday in Redwood City, CA!

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Oct. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- The Performance Science Training Institute (PSTI) is raising money this Saturday to benefit The American Cancer Society. This annual event was started in 2012 to honor a PSTI client (Jenn) who was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy and returned to  boot camp  at PSTI just six weeks later.  Unfortunately , another PSTI client (Melodi) lost her battle with breast cancer this year. PSTI is hosting this event to honor Melodi’s spirit and help raise money to research the prevention and treatment of cancer.

"Burpees for Boobies" costs $40 dollars per person. Each person will receive a special t-shirt, access to the VIP Social, and a chance to win $100 cash prize. 100% of all the money raised will go to charity and not administrative or event setup costs.  The event starts at 8am on Saturday, October 26^th. The event’s location is 2191 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City (In Roosevelt Center), California at the PSTI Body Transformation and Performance Center.  The first hour will consist of a Burbee workout followed by a social.

“Each person will have the chances to perform five running laps around our facility. At the end of each lap, he or she will pass through our gym and perform 20 burpees. The winner will receive a $100 dollar cash prize,” said PSTI owner C.J. Easter. “You don’t have to do the workout to participate, either. You can donate the $40 dollar fee and watch the other participants and/or attend the social. We’re looking to raise over two grand at this event. Any donations are appreciated.”

About 1 in 8 U.S. women (just under 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime and about 39,520 women in the U.S. were expected to die in 2011 from breast cancer. “We would prefer everyone to RSVP to this event, but if you can’t plan for it an advance and simply show up at the event- your presence will always be welcomed,” finished Easter.
