TORONTO - Oct. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Webcom has acquired the Sigma Binder, the latest equipment in binding technology, in response to a strong need in the market. The company is committed to investing in innovative equipment to address the ongoing challenges faced by publishers. Sigma is highly automated and offers a fully integrated solution for digital inkjet book production eliminating what once was a laborious task of cutting, folding and binding.

“Sigma is a highly efficient binding machine that further improves Webcom’s workflow.  With increasing demand for personalized books and small orders, says Mike Collinge, Webcom’s President and CEO. “The Sigma binder is ideal for digital inkjet small runs including book of one.”

The Sigma’s innovative trimming design, with three separate cutting elements, allows for format changes on the fly without process interruption. In addition, its barcode reading system automatically matches covers with book blocks resulting in accuracy, efficiency and minimal waste.

The Bolero Binder, another piece of Webcom’s equipment, has a high production speed of 9000 books per hour, and is more suitable for medium or long runs of 10,000s making the Sigma, the perfect solution for very short runs.

The new equipment presents a great opportunity for publishers to help them manage their budgets without compromising the quality of their books. The streamlined process with its zero make ready time has reduced a short run book production from 15 minutes, to a few minutes.

Sigma is a great addition to Webcom’s latest equipment and expands an already extensive range of digital inkjet printing capabilities.
