Tony Pulis is the clear favourite in the next Crystal Palace manager betting market…

Crystal Palace today parted ways with their manager Ian Holloway after a dismal start to the season. The now former Eagles manager had won just one of his opening eight matches at Selhurst Park.

Oct. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Considering Crystal Palace have never survived more than one season in the Premier League, it looks a very tough job to stave the Eagles away from relegation, but who are the favourites for the helm? Odds comparison site easyodds.com has all the latest betting odds from a host of bookmakers.

Former Stoke manager Tony Pulis (11/4 with StanJames) has a fantastic record in the Premier League – he has never managed a side that has faced the drop, so he is perhaps the wise choice. The bookies have made him the favourite for the job, followed by Neil Warnock (10/1 with Bet365).

Both of these managers have knowledge of the Premier League, but perhaps more interestingly, they both play a direct pressing game which would perhaps suit the likes of current target-men Cameron Jerome and Marouane Chamakh. Warnock of course, had the Crystal Palace job before leaving for pastures new at QPR, and has previously claimed to have retired, so perhaps that is the reasoning behind Pulis being the favourite ahead of him.

Other contenders for the hot-seat are Martin O’Neill (14/1 with Bet365), who after failing to impress at Sunderland could be chomping at the bit to resurrect his managerial career. Whether Crystal Palace is the place to do that is up for debate. After winning the Champions League for Chelsea in his previous job, it is unlikely Roberto Di Matteo (14/1 with Bet365) will fancy a relegation battle next on his CV, yet he is joint third favourite, perhaps indicating Tony Pulis will in fact take the position.
