Xitron Announces Support for Screen PlateRite Ultima CtP Devices

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Oct. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Xitron, the leading commercial developer of Harlequin RIPs and workflows for the printing industry, has released a new interface for Screen CtP systems with support for the Screen PlateRite Ultima 16000, PlateRite Ultima 24000, PlateRite Ultima 32000, PlateRite Ultima 36000 and PlateRite Ultima 40000 platesetters. Earlier Screen PlateRite CtP devices are also supported by the new interface.

The Xitron Screen interface provides:

* Support for Windows 7 and 8 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems

* Simple connectivity via USB

* Compatibility with Navigator workflow,  Xenith Sierra workflow and Raster Blaster TIFF catcher

“Xitron’s output device interfaces support the largest number of CtP, film imagesetter, direct imaging presses, production printers and proofers in the industry,” stated Eric Nelsen, Xitron’s Vice President, Product Development. “Users are not tied to a specific manufacturer or output device with a Xitron workflow. Our interfaces allow Xitron workflow users to upgrade their output devices to meet their business demands while retaining their existing workflow.”

The new interface is compatible with Xitron’s full line of workflow products including Navigator based on Harlequin RIP core technology; Xenith Sierra, based on the Adobe PDF Print Engine; and Raster Blaster, a TIFF catcher capable of accepting TIFF files from a variety of third-party workflow systems and outputting to any of the hundreds of devices support by Xitron.

Xitron’s Navigator Workflow helps prepress operators increase productivity, manage workflow, and reduce costs. An intuitive interface allows operators to manage their work from a Windows or Macintosh workstation, while directing output production through one or more Harlequin RIPs.

Optional workflow modules allow the Navigator Workflow to create and preflight PDFs; perform ink remapping; and support ROOM proofing to any Xitron and most third-party proofing solution. The Navigator Workflow also offers ink key presetting capabilities with KeySetter, a series of pressroom workflow solutions to connect the prepress department and pressroom together.

Xenith Sierra is the Adobe PDF Print Engine workflow offering in Xitron’s line of RIP and workflow solutions. Xenith Sierra is an excellent solution for larger printers who need comprehensive control over every job, while automating prepress tasks, Xenith Sierra provides the tools and power to substantially increase throughput, improve quality, reduce errors, and maximize performance.

Raster Blaster accepts standard 1-bit TIFF files from virtually any prepress workflow. The Xitron device interface converts the TIFF to the appropriate output format to drive the specific CtP, direct imaging press or imagesetter.
