New Attorney Joins Klein Varble & Associates, P.C.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Oct. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Klein Varble & Associates, P.C. now has a new lawyer, Andre Sedlak, Esq., on its legal team. Attorney Sedlak is a dedicated lawyer who has a background as a corrections officer, a labor union negotiator and a hostage negotiator. Klein Varble & Associates assists clients throughout the Hudson Valley in the state of New York with legal matters related to divorce and family law, personal injury law and bankruptcy.

Attorney Sedlak has a Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law in White Plains, New York, and he has a Bachelor of Science in business from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, New York, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. The lawyer is a currently a member of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NYSACDL) and the New York State Bar Association. He also holds membership in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the Alpha Beta Gamma International Business Honor Society.

Mr. Sedlak, who is a lifeline resident of the Hudson Valley, has previously interned for the Westchester County District Attorney’s office in Yonkers. He has also interned for the Legal Services of the Hudson Valley in Poughkeepsie. Klein Varble & Associates’ new lawyer has 21 years of experience working as a Correctional Officer and a Correctional Sergeant for the New York State Department of Corrections. Attorney Sedlak has worked at the department’s Downstate, Fishkill and Sing Sing Correctional Facilities. In his previous career, the now-lawyer gained valuable experience handling disputes and negotiating deals. This is because he served on his labor union’s grievance resolution committee, through which he assisted in settling labor disputes between management and union employees. Mr. Sedlak also held the labor union positions of Local Union Secretary, Chief Shop Steward and Steward.

Attorney Sedlak moved into being a hostage negotiator once he received his Corrections Crisis Intervention Unit Training Certificate in October 1993. He was later promoted in 1999 to the position of Assistant Crisis Team Leader. Mr. Sedlak received specialized training and instructed fellow employees on how to identify, track and collect information about unauthorized groups, organizations and religions among the inmate population.
