The healthiest chocolate on Earth?

Today, Wise One Superfoods releases a new breed of chocolate across North America, what they’re calling Raw Superfood Chocolate. It’s apparently the healthiest chocolate on the planet.

They’ve taken the most nutritious ‘superfoods’ from around the globe—things like maca, acai berries, medicinal mushrooms, ginseng and algae—and combined them with the highest quality chocolate to create a chocolate experience that’s not only as healthy as it gets but delicious too.

Some of their ingredients are fascinating, like a black mineral pitch with over 80 minerals called shilajit (pronounced, shee-la-jeet), or a medicinal mushroom called Chaga, known for its anti-oxidants and anti-cancer properties. Their chocolate, which they source beyond fair-trade, is an heirloom strain of chocolate that has the same complex taste of ancient chocolate that Mesoamerican cultures used thousands of years ago in ceremonies and celebrations. It’s grown in a mineral rich soil, far away from any agricultural or industrial pollutants, and watered only with spring water and rainwater, ensuring the cleanest chocolate possible.

Derek Rohde, a college graduate, yogi, and eco-preneur started Wise One Superfoods after a trip to Central America. While in Central America, he ended up at a raw chocolate party in the jungle, where he says ‘I tried raw cacao for the first time, straight form the jungle, and I saw what a real party is like, where people are connected and having more fun than we usually allow ourselves. It was a true celebration, and I knew right then what I had to do.’ When he arrived home, Derek started sharing his chocolate with friends and family and before he knew it, ‘everyone was asking me for more chocolate. I found myself in a perpetual chocolate party.’ According to Derek, raw chocolate has mood elevating components, which is why it’s great for celebrations, or just having an amazing day. After his trip and some exploration as a chocolatier, Derek dove into the study of nutrition and superfoods and how they affect the body, learning from some of the world’s most knowledgeable health educators.  He came to design a whole line of chocolates, all of which offer their own unique benefits to the human body. He gave them playful names, like the Time Traveler bar, which has Chaga Mushroom, Camu Camu, and a special type of algae known as AFA, or the Amazonia Love bar, which has Maca, Mucuna, Acai, Acerola, and Maqui.

Derek has made it his mission to fuel life’s celebration with empowering and soul-nourishing decadence. He hopes to use his chocolate as delicious educational tools to spread knowledge about superfoods, chocolate, and optimal living.
