ASHBURN, Va. - Oct. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- The IJIS Institute—a nonprofit organization that focuses on mission‐critical information sharing for justice, public safety, and homeland security— recently convened its first Corrections Technology Forum at the Crystal Gateway Marriot in Arlington, Virginia.

Attending the inaugural Corrections Technology Forum were nearly 100 executives from the corrections industry and community from across the nation. The goals of the Forum were: to provide an opportunity to discuss specific challenges faced by institutional and community corrections; and, to give decision makers a chance to network with each other and with industry providers to discuss more effective information sharing and interoperability among systems, as well as to help address the needs and obstacles corrections agencies encounter when procuring solutions.

Tom Herzog, Associate Commissioner, New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision said, “This was an exceptional meeting of industry personnel—both practitioners and business partners—each engaged in learning modules designed to help make institutional and community corrections safer, more effective, and more efficient.”

Steve Ambrosini, Executive Director of the IJIS Institute said, “We wish to thank members of the Corrections Advisory Committee and the Forum Task Force, who diligently worked with the IJIS Institute team to make the Corrections Technology Forum the successful event that it was.” Ambrosini further stated, “We also wish to recognize our partners and the many sponsors who made this event possible.”

Funding for the Forum was provided by IJIS Institute member companies: CorrecTek, Esri, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Marquis Software, Microsoft, Saadian, Securus Technologies, Syscon Justice Systems, and Tetrus Corporation.

Support for the forum included IJIS Institute partners: the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA), American Correctional Association (ACA), and Corrections Technology Association (CTA).
