NEW YORK - Oct. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- There is an old maxim in marketing that goes roughly like this:  Even if I'm offering an ounce of gold for $100, I won't have any takers unless someone knows about my offer, recognizes the value, and has a need.

Thus it is that 1000's of outstanding and useful new products, services, and other offers make their way onto the market each year, merely to end up in a trash heap, costing the producer the funds to launch rather than resulting in the sought after profit.

The same maxim applies to all those who offer their talents for sale in the entertainment world.  There are thousands of talented singers, dancers, and actors hoping to make it big, or at least make a living.  Some of these have studied their craft for years, taking classes and entertaining for fee, just to hone their skills.  But all that potential may be wasted for lack of knowing the business.

Mark Stolzenberg, founder of the New York Acting School for Film and Television, wants to help aspring actors design their resume's, hone their audtion skills, get proper headshots, and learn how to secure an agent; all things necessary to getting work in "the business."  Stolzenberg will teach a new class, "The Business of Acting," starting on October 24 at 6:00 and running for four weeks.

According to Stolzenberg:  "This class is for beginners who have only a limited understand of how to gain visibility as an actor, or for those who have some experience, but are not gaining any traction in the biz. There is a business side to acting. Skill, talent, and hard work can often fail to pay off, because you are not visible, or not presenting yourself in the right way."

Stolzenberg has made a living as a working actor for his entire adult life. He has worked in movies, television, commercials, stage, and events, and would like to help actors position themselves in the marketplace in such a way that they are more likely to find work as an actor.

Those attending the Business of Acting Classes will:
  1. Learn how to put together a headshot and resume that will help get work.
  2. Learn how to market their skills
  3. Learn about casting websites, networking, mailing lists, publications, where to       get work and more.
  4. Learn about creating an acting reel and acting website
  5. Meet an Agent or Manager
