Follow on Google News | The Princess ... The Pearls ... & The Pekingese wins Silver Moonbeam AwardBy: The Princess ... The Pearls ... & The Pekingese According to the Moonbeam Awards website, "The Moonbeam Children's Book Awards are intended to bring increased recognition to exemplary children's books and their creators, and to support childhood literacy and life-long reading. The Awards recognize and reward the best of these books and bring them to the attention of parents, booksellers, librarians - and to children themselves." Katz couldn’t be more pleased with the news of the award. “I consider it an honor and a blessing for Princess to be recognized in this way,” she said. “Hopefully this will open the door for more little girls to learn about God’s love for them.” The princess of the title is a little girl named Isabella, who lives with her parents, brother and beloved Pekingese, Lizzie. Lizzie and Isabella have many adventures, but their main goal is to show other girls they too are princesses because they are loved by their Heavenly Daddy. “Princess” Recently, Katz was facing the “empty nest syndrome” as her two children become older. When praying about her next step, she remembered a dream which God had given her years before of a little girl dancing and wearing her pearls, telling other girls they were too loved by God and his princesses. “I realized this was to be a children’s book that would especially speak to the hearts of God’s daughters,” Katz said. “I wanted to let them know how much He loves them and that He made each of them with unique gifts, talents, beauty and purpose!” The book was published in 2012 with the illustrations of the talented Dominick Blanda and is published through DC Publishing. The Moonbeam Awards exist to bring increased recognition to children’s books that inspire and delight children of all ages. Judging panels of librarians, teachers, students and book reviewers choose the medalists. Over 1,200 books from around the world were judged against 48 categories, and winning books came from a diverse group of long-established publishers, small presses, associations and self-publishers. This year's Moonbeam Awards medal ceremony will be held in conjunction with the 4th annual Traverse City Children’s Book Festival (http://www.tcchildrensbookfestival.com/ End
